A BIG THANK YOU
Thank you to all of the parents and WYSA board member volunteers that helped out this past weekend to make the U9/U10 Fall Festival a very successful event. Also, thanks for all of the donations of food too.
GOOD LUCK WISHES to the NOVAS
Good luck to the Novas travel teams that have made the semi-finals occurring on the weekend of October 30th. The U12 Girls, U12 Boys (Gendreau), and the U14 Girls have all moved forward in the state playoffs. GO NOVAS.
WYSA is the home of the Waterville Recreational Soccer program and Maine Novas Soccer. Jointly we provide boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 15 with a soccer program which is appropriately competitive for their age and skill level. The program emphasizes the development of soccer skills, an understanding of the game, and the enjoyment which comes from playing the game at both a recreational and competitive level.
We have 400 plus soccer players from throughout Central Maine. Currently our players are from China, South China, Fairfield, Waterville, Oakland, Belgrade, Sidney, Augusta, Readfield, Winthrop, Winslow, Skowhegan, Norridgewock, Benton, Canaan, Clinton, Hinckley, East Vassalboro, St Albans, Pittsfield, Plymouth, Albion, Unity, Rome, Palermo, Monmouth and Belfast. The Maine Novas maintain affiliations with Soccer Maine, (United Soccer Federation of Maine (USFM)), USSF and the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA).
WYSA’s purpose is to develop, promote, support and assist in the growth and development of instructional and recreational soccer programs for youth soccer players in Central Maine. This is accomplished by qualified coaches emphasizing a positive soccer learning experience and respect for the rules of the game.
We are very proud of our coaching staff at all levels. Our Travel Director Jon Christensen was chosen as the 2004 Soccer Maine Coach of the Year, and Jen Clark our Director of Coaching and Player Development was selected to coach the U14 Girls Olympic Development Program.
WYSA and the Maine Novas sponsor teams at all four levels of youth soccer: Recreational, Travel, Classic and Premier. Our programs lead to success both on and off the field. Most recently our congratulations go out to the U-14 Premier Boys and U-13 Classic Girls teams for winning the Coastal Summer Challenge at Bowdoin College in June.
We run all of our programs in both the fall and the spring with some teams practicing throughout the winter as well. Two soccer camps are operated during the summer months and at times we host tournaments. We have recently been selected by Soccer Maine to host the U10 Festival. Our volunteers will work directly with Colby volunteers to host both the boys and girls from the Soccer Maine’s Northern and Central Districts in October. We are currently seeking sponsors for this Festival.
As the organization continues its growth we welcome all new players, coaches and volunteers.
