Maine Novas Travel
Soccer
The Novas is the Waterville-area "travel team" sponsored by WYSA.
This is significantly more competitive play than the recreational soccer
program. Novas teams compete against teams in other Maine communities.
Players:
We typically support teams from the U-9 through U-14 level, for the fall season
depending on the availability of players and coaches. There are separate
teams at each level for boys and for girls. (U-9 means under 9 years old as
of August 1)
Commitment: Most Novas teams practice once a week in addition to one or two
games on Sundays for a season lasting 8-12 weeks in both Fall and Spring.
There are also occasional tournaments which may be full weekend events.
Players are expected to be at most practices and games and to communicate
with the coach when attendance is not possible.
Cost: Total
cost is usually $100-150 per season per child; full or partial scholarships
are available, based on need.
Registration for the fall 2010 season is
closed. Please contact Travel Director, Chuck Calkins @ csjcalkins@yahoo.com with any
questions.
Novas News: Coach Scott Curtis
was named Soccer Maine’s Girls Coach of the Year.
